My mother the rocker
Oct. 21st, 2010 10:43 pmFor the past several years, my mother has been liking more modern music than me - The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Red Hot Chili Peppers. So she Skypes me today and here's how our conversation went:
mom: I discovered this new band, they're so great! They're called... they may be giants.
me: You mean They Might Be Giants.
mom: Yeah, you know them?
me: Well, they're only my husband's favorite band.
mom: Oh, great, will you burn me a CD?
me: No, because their discography wouldn't fit on a dozen CDs. Why don't I burn you the data and you can put it on your MP3 player.
mom: Oh, OK, I'll ask your dad to do it.
me: It would be greatly embarrassing for you, since you can put files on your MP3 player by dragging and dropping. Do you know how to do that?
[Blank stare]
me: You click on the file or folder, and not let go, and point the mouse to where you want them to end up.
[Blank stare] I'll ask dad to do it.
And this is a woman who learned how to drive at 50!
( Here's some TMBG to get us both in a better mood )
