Выношу свой собственный комментарий о Pussy Riot:

В нормальной, светской стране (и Россия в каком-то бреде решила что она именно такая) им бы ничего не было. Попросили бы уйти если бы очень службе мешали. А Россия - не нормальная страна, и отношения между РПЦ и Путиным ненормальные, и сами по себе РПЦ и Путин ненормальные. И вообще хорошо что я там не живу, а то бы захотелось всех нахуй перестрелять.

Моя близкая подруга (которая живет в России) говорит что я не люблю русских и русское. Это не так, я просто идиотов не люблю, особенно злых. А в России на данный момент их много, и они у власти, так что их хорошо видно и слышно, и они плохо и обильно влияют на жизнь. По-моему, единственный метов выживания нормального человека в России это всех политиков, деятелей и знаменитостей игнорировать, что мои друзья и родственники и делают. Иначе ты либо уезжаешь в более свободную страну, либо, со временем, тебя или садят или грабят или убивают.

Вообщем, россияне, пиздец у вас непроходимый, и во многом это ваша вина.

Звонят и предлогают короткий опрос про наш отечественный финансовый кризис, а за участие сулят беплатный круиз на двоих на Багамы. Мол, нажми 9 и твой телефон будет убран из наших списков. Небось второй вопрос в опросе "какой твой номер социального страхования?"

Ну конечно, оказывается нужен номер моей кредитной карты что бы оплатить портовые сборы.

Я думаю что если я вообще не буду поднимать трубку то важные звонки будут пропускаться от сила раз в неделю. Моя жизнь все больше в Скайпе, Гуглтоке и Мордокниге, даже учитываю что я ненавижу общение по СМС.

I fucking loved my phone! I even posted about it on LJ, but it's not worth linking to it since the source took down all its info and now you can't tell what it was. It was and LG Decoy and perfect for me - a small slider with a built-in Bluetooth earbud. And it appears that they no longer make the built-in Bluetooth on any phone except one obscure one that Andy found in India.

And, of course, it has been dying for the past year. First, I dropped it on the ground during a particularly hard day at work and the screen got scratched. Then the battery started being total crap. And now it's gotten to the point where in half the calls, the microphone works inconsistently at best.

I am at a total loss on how to replace it. For certain reasons, I need to stick with Verizon for now, and although I'm eligible for an upgrade, there isn't a single phone on their site that is a good fit for me. All I want is a small slider without a QWERTY keyboard (and hopefully without a touchscreen) that has a decent camera. I know I'm not going to get my Bluetooth dream, but fuck, I'll take call quality! I'm even willing to go for a QWERTY, as long as it doesn't make the phone massive. I don't text, I don't internet on my phone and I don't want any "features" from Verizon. I was kind of interested in the Kin ONEm - it is tiny and has WiFi, but it's got crap reviews, and come on, no calculator or calendar? Really?

I did look on eBay, but the only Decoys sold are not new, they're "new other (see detail)" and lack manuals. Suspicious, no?

I'll take your suggestions, as long as they don't involve me having to have a data plan.

A while ago I was asked to play a role in the passing of a package from Russia to the Bay Area. I snuck a little peak and I discovered that it was Russian medication. I looked up a couple of them and it turned out to be immune system boosters, some sort of vitamins (complete with syringes) and something to fight viruses. Sounds to me like these people were trying to fight the flu, if not the common cold! I'm sure people order the same things from Russian pharmacies in America. The kicker is that the guy who came to pick them up wanted to tell me what was inside the package and informed me that he was an immunologist when I expressed my skepticism. Not sure if he was locally-trained or not.

The thing is, besides my extreme distrust in post-Soviet medicine in general, it applies even more to medications. My thought is this: if this stuff was so good, worked so much better than the stuff available in the US (or Europe, whatever), then why the fuck isn't it sold or prescribed here?

And speaking of prescriptions, I've heard a lot of my former countrymen complain that everything in the Western world has to be gotten by prescription. Well, that makes sense to me too - having OTC antibiotics, for instance, is just a dumb idea. Over-medicating in general is a dumb idea. Russians tend to self-medicate because their doctors are incompetent (or are perceived as incompetent, or are trained in inferior or outdated treatments or techniques) or they trust their neighbors and the internets. Plus, I noticed that many Russians don't think a doctor is good unless he prescribes a relatively intensive course of treatment, rather than recognizing that a particular condition may very well go away on its own. Many immigrants switch American doctors and complain bitterly that they are lazy and don't know shit when they prescribe an Advil or tell them not to worry.

This goes even more for various vitamins and supplements. I realize they're not approved by the FDA in the US and I don't trust them much here, either, the same goes exponentially for the Russian equivalents.

I get that some people have nostalgia for Russian stuff like chocolate, but using Russian medication because you're "used to it" is akin to bloodletting in this day and age.
