So, my body has been going through cycles of weird pains. There were the arm pains and the nausea, and now I also got these all-body tension pains. I think it's from repetitive motion or bad positioning, so I've been finally thinking about giving up computing in bed. I'm doing it now, except I'm seated totally differently. But I think a better solution might be to get a reading chair. What do you recommend, how do you like to read or compute? I was thinking something like this or like this from Ikea, but I'm not sure if that's a comfortable material to sit on or if the cats will eat it. I think I need something that allows me to not put too much stress on my tailbone, raises my knees because my small laptop sits on them, and isn't too big.

I agree that computing in bed is BAD. I once gave myself double carpal tunnel doing that. I think the most important thing though is not how you're seated (although that's important too) but how you position your arms/wrists while you're typing. Not like laptops can ever be truly ergonomic. Maybe you can invest in a little tray thing for whatever sitting apparatus you acquire?

Do you think the said sitting apparatus should have armrests? I have a computer table on one tall leg, maybe they could work together...

Truth be told I don't even use the arm rests on my chair at work, but I don't know what works for you!

Andy wants me to investigate it from an ergonomics stance.

I really can't bring myself to actually sit at my desk, especially since it's being used as a changing table right now. And that was terrible for my tailbone, too!

у меня мяч, на котором я сижу за компом. важно что б стул/мяч был правельной высоты. К сожалению у меня появился печальный опыт.

My husband sits on a yoga balls. It works for him for the most part, but for me, there are two issues: it does not help with my tailbone problem and I have terrible balance. I tried using it when our baby was little and liked to be bounced and I almost fell off!
